Death of Clara Driscoll

On July 17, 1945, the Savior of the Alamo, Clara Driscoll, died at the age of 64.

Texans knew her for saving the Alamo, philanthropist, and a Daughter of the

Republic of Texas. Laguna Gloria was her home in Austin. Time magazine wrote this about Clara Driscoll’s political acumen after her death. “Politicians respect her: she could drink, battle, cuss and connive with the best of them, outspending practically all of them.”

Remember the Alamo and revere Clara Driscoll!
